It's annoying to spend time clicking an email subject and then waiting for the message to load and then closing again immediately when it wasn't worth reading. It's also problematic and cluttering to have multiple emails with the same subject in your inbox one after the other. If you are part of a Reply to All group email you could easily have 10 or more messages in your inbox within several minutes. Wouldn't it be nice if those 10 emails were made into one single message? We agree and our new concept will solve all of your inbox worries!

The first major advance would be the ability to view your inbox or other folders and search results with our Layered View. You can use your mouse scroll wheel to easily cruise through your emails without having to open or close any new windows. You can also click into the future or past by simply clicking on any message in the Layer View.

Alternatively, if you still prefer the classic list view of your emails you could just select the Thread View. From the thread view you can combine your emails into a single message in your inbox grouped by either subject or sender. One huge advantage to this system would be grouping what is called an email thread. An email thread is a bunch of similar emails between two or more people sewn together by the emails' subject. If five emails have the subject Presentation Thursday or Re: Presentation Thursday then the chances are, those emails are related. It would be best if you viewed all of those five emails in reverse succession (the newest first) so that you can read them in context with previous emails which you may or may not have had time to read before.

Other email programs such as Google's Gmail already allow you to use the thread view but not on your computer desktop. Gmail's thread view only works for online email. However, Google does not allow you to view all of your emails from a single sender this way. With Pine Lake's concept, you could view all of the emails that have the same subject in one long message, or you can view all of the emails from one person in a single message!

This is the view of an enlarged threaded email view. There are three emails in this thread. One from Matt, followed by one from Me (Dylan, the inbox owner) and a third email from Matt. The first message from Matt had the subject New email interface. The next two messages had the subject Re: New email interface. The email program is smart enough to remove any repeated messages like when Matt replied in the third email and left the previous two email texts in his message. Instead you only see Matt's new contribution to the email thread instead of multiple copies of Dylan and Matt's earlier messages.
